AND I AM NOTHING OF A BUILDER, BUT HERE I DREAMT I WAS AN ARCHITECT. AND I BUILT THIS BALUSTRADE TO KEEP YOU HOME, TO KEEP YOU SAFE FROM THE OUTSIDE WORLD. BUT THE ANGLES AND THE CORNERS, EVEN THOUGH MY WORK IS UNPARALLELED, THEY NEVER SEEMED TO MEET. THIS STRUCTURE FELL ABOUT OUR FEET AND WE WERE FREE TO GO.Read more... )

St Patrick's Day really is a great deal less exciting when you've a toddler running around. I think last year we had her grandparents watch her, but this year, it was just me and Cho getting ready for her second Mothering Sunday and the dim sum brunch we cooked this morning (which hopefully wasn't too stuffed up). I bought some flowers but Cho and I decided to take Penny's advice and buy some pastel nail varnishes for spring. Jia seems to like them more than the mood polish earlier this week, but I suppose pastels always look cheerful. After Cho has a nap, it's off to the in-laws' for dinner. So many mothers, so little time.

WARDED TO ROSE, PENNY AND ANDROMEDA.
And I believe a special Happy Mothering Sunday is in order for you. I hope you're all having a wonderful day.

Following Charlie's sort-of-suggestion, I bought my wife a bottle of that new nail polish on the way home from work. She put it on, but her nails have been black all night. That's probably not a good sign, right?

I'm tempted to try it myself to see if this bottle's defective or something.

WARDED TO DAILY PROPHET EMPLOYEES.
I'm glad to hear we've all managed to recover and are all starting to come back to work. For my own part, I'm planning on Monday even if I'll still have to be careful not to over-do it with my hand. Anyway, I don't know if any of you remembers that owl we received a couple weeks ago -- and maybe I'm just feeling spiteful in light of what the Death Eaters have done -- but what do you all think about the possibility of publishing it? We obviously don't and couldn't endorse it, but we'd at least be able to show the Death Eaters they're not going to scare us from being critical of them in the news.

Finally done with the quick quotes quill. Might seem more convenient than writing, but it's really more trouble than anything, especially when it mishears something you're saying and writes down the wrong words. You'd be amazed how a few word substitutions can completely change the meaning of what you write.

I thought I'd do something unique this Valentine's Day and cook dinner for my wife. Not just an average dinner -- there's nothing that special about that -- but one of those fancy ones with French this and that and six courses. Trial run last night was a complete waste of food. I'm not sure what I'm going to do when tomorrow comes, but I'm going to try again tonight if anyone wants to risk eating it and let me know how bad it is. Cho can be your dinner mate. She'll probably be laughing at my domestic failure and shouting orders from the peanut gallery, but if you don't mind, there's free food to be had.

Why children? Why do they have to kill children?

WARDED TO DAILY PROPHET EMPLOYEES.
Any of you hear the broadcast this afternoon? Do Death Eaters really believe anyone apart from purists agrees with them? I feel I've missed something crucial, here. Anyway, this ought to make politics delightful.

As exciting as writing for the Daily Prophet might seem, and often can be, sometimes it means I have to sit through long Wizengamot or International Confederation of Wizards sessions. Not to name any names, but some of those people really love the sounds of their own voices. I think one of the ambassadors from Belgium must've gone on for at least an hour about next to nothing and I'm certain I caught one of the gentlemen from France nodding off half-way through. I'll probably refrain from writing any of that in the paper, at least for the sake of avoiding international conflicts or hurt feelings, but I had to write it somewhere. It's not really every day you see that kind of professionalism in action and it's well worth recording. And probably more interesting to everyone, apart from Andromeda, than my documenting my daughter's every move.
